See why a coalition of leading UK medical facilities awarded a services contract to ISS

by Brianna Crandall — December 11, 2017 — After a competitive procurement process, the Fulham Road Collaborative (FRC) has awarded a new five-year contract, worth more than £100m (842m DKK) over the contract term, to the group’s existing provider, ISS Facility Services – Healthcare, a division of global facility services provider ISS.

ISS will add waste management and commercial retail services for the NHS facilities while still providing these facility services: healthcare cleaning, catering, portering, laundry and reception.

Representing some of the world’s leading clinical facilities, the collaborative consortium of National Health Service (NHS) establishments along the Fulham Road in the Chelsea neighborhood of West London and their associate hospitals include the Chelsea & Westminster NHS Foundation Trust, the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, and the Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Foundation Trust.

This “soft” facilities management agreement is the second one awarded to ISS — a similar contract ran from January 2012. The new partnership will see ISS extend its presence to include waste management while still providing a wide range of facility services, including healthcare cleaning, patient catering, portering and logistics, linen and laundry, reception, and car parking. ISS was also successful in its tender to provide commercial retail services to the staff, visitors and patients at the Chelsea & Westminster and Harefield hospitals.

Chris Ash, managing director of ISS Healthcare in the UK, remarked:

We are delighted that the Fulham Road Collaborative felt that ISS continued to offer the best value for money and service solutions to its patients. The process allowed us to showcase a number of [innovative], technology-led service solutions. I am particularly pleased to see the opening of our inaugural Academy, an industry-first training facility that that will bring to life our new approach to technical and behavioral skills development.

A spokesperson for the Chelsea & Westminster NHS Foundation Trust, the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, and the Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Foundation Trust commented:

All of us are delighted that ISS have been awarded the contract for a second time along the Fulham Road collaboration of hospitals. We are all committed to delivering excellent patient care and we look forward to continue working with ISS to ensure our high standards are maintained.
