Diversey Care launches hybrid touchless hand care technology, commits to global triclosan-free hand care

by Brianna Crandall — September 19, 2016 — Sealed Air’s Diversey Care division this past week introduced a hybrid automatic hand care dispenser and committed to remove triclosan from all hand care products globally. Sealed Air Corp. is a provider of food safety and security, facility hygiene and product protection around the world.

Intellicare hybrid touchless hand care system

Sealed Air’s Diversey Care professional hand care division this past week introduced IntelliCare, a new commercial hand care system featuring what the company calls “the industry’s first” hybrid automatic hand care dispenser with both touchless and manual activation.  The versatile dispensing system is compatible with Diversey Care liquid/gel and foam products, and provides low content and battery alerts to help ensure dispensers are always full and functioning.

“IntelliCare is a complete hand care solution that re-imagines the way hand hygiene is performed and managed, enabling businesses to protect every critical hygiene moment,” said Dr. Stephen Dalton, vice president of Infection Prevention and Healthcare, Diversey Care.  “The flexible and intelligent system is designed to prevent infection, improve productivity, and protect an organization’s brand.”

With hand washing being the single most effective way to prevent the spread of infection, the IntelliCare dispenser seamlessly shifts from touchless to manual mode to deliver uninterrupted hand hygiene once battery power is depleted.  Real-time alerts for content refills and battery replacement also promote hand hygiene compliance.

IntelliCare dispensers can be used with a variety of globally trusted hand care formulations, allowing facilities to customize product selection based on environment, site or user needs. The hand care system features tamper-proof, collapsible bottles designed to prevent product contamination and empty completely to reduce waste. Intellicare antibacterial hand soaps are also triclosan free to meet new FDA requirements, as noted below.

IntelliCare is part of Diversey Care’s Internet of Clean platform, which connects machines, dispensers, sensors, beacons and other smart devices to enable remote monitoring of key processes. Customers have access to the IntelliCare app, which offers 24/7 expert hand care advice, online training and support materials, and augmented reality dispenser location functionality.

Triclosan removal commitment

Diversey Care also announced that it will set the pace for the industry by removing triclosan from all of its hand care products globally within the next 12 months. Recently, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a final rule that over-the-counter consumer antiseptic wash products containing triclosan can no longer be marketed in the United States.

For over 20 years, Diversey Care has offered customers around the world hand care products with and without triclosan, as authorities in many countries still approve of its use. However, through innovation, Diversey Care is now able to remove triclosan as an active ingredient from its hand care products, while improving overall performance and gentleness to the skin. This transition will also widen the range of hand hygiene options for customers.
