ISS wins integrated facility services contracts in North America, around world

by Brianna Crandall — September 14, 2016 — John Crane, a manufacturer of mechanical seals, couplings, hydro-dynamic bearings, seal support systems, and filtration systems, has selected global facility services provider ISS as its integrated facility services provider for two key locations in North America.

John Crane is the largest division of Smiths Group, a leader in the practical applications of advanced technologies delivering products and services for the threat and contraband detection, medical devices, energy, communications and engineered components markets worldwide, operating in more than 50 countries.

ISS will deliver maintenance, food services, reception, security, pest control, grounds and cleaning services to two John Crane locations in North America.

ISS will deliver maintenance, food services, reception, security, pest control, grounds, and cleaning services as part of this new contract. Initially the agreement between ISS and John Crane covers two locations in Morton Grove and Crystal Lake, Illinois, but the agreement has the potential to expand to additional sites.

Approximately 25 ISS employees will be working on delivering the integrated facility services solution to John Crane. ISS commenced service delivery on June 1, 2016, and the contract is now fully operational. The contract runs for five years.

Additional ISS contract awards announced in recent weeks around the world are highlighted below.

Heineken, one of the largest beer breweries in the world, just selected ISS Facility Services in the Netherlands as its integrated facility services provider for four key locations (three breweries and one soda production site) as well as nine distribution centers. ISS will deliver 27 different services, including cleaning, maintenance, and reception services. The contract starts on January 1, 2017, runs for 5 years, and includes 110 employees. ISS already works for Heineken in Spain, Greece and Portugal.

Middlesex University in London, England, which has almost 40,000 students across the globe, extended its facility services contract with ISS U.K. for an additional three years. The contract extension calls for ISS to provide cleaning services to the school’s Hendon campus, which boasts a brand-new library with 24/7 access, state-of-the-art biomedical and technology labs, modern classrooms and lecture theatres, a high-end TV production studio, and art and design workshop spaces.  The deal contains the option to extend for additional years.

Hitachi Rail Europe Ltd., a railway manufacturer and solutions provider, awarded ISS U.K. a three-year integrated facility services contract to provide a range of services including security, building maintenance, waste management, janitorial, landscaping, winterization, pest control, help desk support and cleaning. The contract will extend to four U.K. maintenance centers delivering a diverse range of integrated services, and contains an option to extend for an additional two years.

Brittany Ferries, one of the main British channel carrier companies, signed a new contract with ISS France to clean its entire fleet for the next few years. The contract includes the cleaning of all cabins and common spaces on all English, French, Irish and Spanish operating lines. In total, during the summer high season, approximately 600 ISS employees will be working every day cleaning more than 2,400 cabins, representing an area of 34,000 m2.

In addition to this renewed deal, ISS France recently won a number of other contracts, including with a large French telecommunications company, for which ISS France will work on 562 sites including 206 shops, providing cleaning, reception and mail; cleaning 20-40 floors of the offices in a new headquarters in the business district “La Défense” in Paris of an asset management division of a large French insurance company; service to a large Swiss insurance company, which ISS France will manage the cleaning, security (in partnership with Eden Gard), and maintenance (co-sourcing with ERI) of nine sites; and a major French automobile manufacturer, for which 70 new ISS employees will work for more than three years.
