by Brianna Crandall — August 17, 2016 — Larson Electronics, an industrial and commercial lighting supplier, has just announced the release of two industrial-strength lights: a multipurpose LED tactical flashlight providing dual functionality, and an explosion-proof signal light with an audible horn.
LED tactical flashlight
The FL-LED-X2-DFX dual-function LED tactical flashlight from Larson Electronics uses a CREE light-emitting diode (LED) rated at 650 lumens in conjunction with a high-efficiency deep parabolic reflector to create a usable beam of light rated at 900 feet. A secondary floodlight is integrated into the housing of the light, producing a 200-lumen-wide beam spread of light, making it ideal for close-up illumination.
The dual-function, streamlined LED tactical flashlight produces 650 lumens of light, with maximum portability and a long runtime for both battery and lamp life.
Constructed from aircraft-grade 6061-T6 aluminum with a Type III hard-anodized finish, this unit is watertight and shatterproof, able to withstand the rigors of aggressive and heavy-duty use and applications, with maximum portability, says Larson. The streamlined product has all the power of a full-sized tactical flashlight but eliminates the bulky design and additional weight, allowing for smooth and easy handling.
The high-intensity LED in the flashlight produces 650 lumens of light in high mode, 250 lumens of light in medium mode, and 150 lumens of light in low mode. It has a lifetime of 50,000 hours, compared to the 50-hour average of an incandescent bulb. Two rubber push-button switches provide easy operation, while the contoured body design allows for maximum grip and control.
The specially designed grip pattern provides secure handling even in wet, oily and slippery conditions. Power for this light is provided by two CR-123 lithium primary batteries, giving the unit a runtime of up to six hours.
Signal light with audible horn
Larson Electronics also announced the release of a new single-colored explosion-proof signal stack light with an audible horn. The EPL-TL-1X10W-C-PA LED signal light is a Class 1 Division 1 and Class 2 Division 1 LED signal light equipped with an audible horn and approved for use in hazardous environments where explosive and flammable gases, vapors, and dusts exist or stand the potential to exist.

The signal light is equipped with a single 10-watt LED lamp that produces an optional color output of red, blue, green, amber, purple or white. This light can be configured to operate on a steady burn or strobe, and each LED lamp offers an exceptional 1,050 lumen output.
The explosion-proof audible alarm setup sounds a unique tone per the user setting. Multiple units can be configured for different lamp colors and different tones, providing operators in hazardous locations with an effective and powerful alert system that can withstand demanding conditions and be heard over the operation of industrial machinery and equipment, reaching a peak at 110dBA.
Wiring is made through a ¾” NPT conduit access hub and can be configured to work on 120 or 240 volts AC for use with standard line voltages, or 24 volts DC for low voltage operation. A NEMA 4X-rated explosion-proof junction box protects the internal wiring and can be tapped in order to connect the signal light to power sources. Mounting is provided by a heavy-gauge aluminum base with predrilled holes designed to be bolted to walls and flat surfaces for permanent and secure attachment.
Power is provided by individual conductors to allow independent operation of each lamp and tone combination. Operators can tap the C1D1 junction box in order to connect to a power source. The unit carries a T3 temperature rating, and is weatherproof, dust-proof, NEMA 4X-rated and marine-rated for wet environments.
