by Brianna Crandall — December 19, 2016 — U.K.-based FM outsourcing services provider Mitie announced two FM services contracts in recent weeks in the United Kingdom, one in London and the other throughout Scotland, highlighted below.
Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS)
Most recently, Mitie was awarded a three-year extension to its current integrated facilities management (FM) services contract with financial services company Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) at the company’s office in London. AGCS provides a comprehensive range of corporate and specialty insurance services to a global network that spans across more than 160 countries.
Mitie has been providing a number of FM services for AGCS since 2010, including mechanical and electrical maintenance, cleaning, security, pest control, waste management and mailroom. The new contract will see Mitie deliver additional intelligent building and energy management services to AGCS’s headquarters at 60 Gracechurch Street, a 9,623-square-foot (894-square-meter) building in the heart of London.
Mitie says it was awarded the contract due to its innovation, intelligent building and energy optimization offering, as well as its excellent delivery track record and positive relationship with AGCS.
Scottish Police Authority (SPA), Scottish Fire and Rescue Services (SFRS)
Mitie was also awarded a new five-year contract with the Scottish Police Authority (SPA) and Scottish Fire and Rescue Services (SFRS) to provide hard FM services to their buildings across Scotland and the Islands.
Formally established in 2013, SPA is the second-largest police force in the U.K., responsible for policing some 28,168 square miles across the length and breadth of Scotland. Also established in 2013, SFRS brings together the collective skills and experience from Scotland’s previous eight fire and rescue services to create a safer Scotland.
Valued at £52 million over the five-year period, the new contract will see Mitie providing a range of services to SPA’s and SFRS’s combined estate of around 950 properties, including mechanical and electrical maintenance and installation, fabric maintenance, pest control, grounds maintenance and capital project works as required.
Mitie will also work with SPA and SFRS to help them develop a sustainability strategy, in support of the Scottish Government’s “Greener Scotland” strategic objective.
SPA and SFRS carried out a joint tender exercise in order to consolidate the FM delivery across their estate, currently comprising over 300 suppliers, into an integrated model delivered by a single provider. Mitie was reportedly awarded the contract due to its expansive service capability supported by a single, national helpdesk, its innovative use of asset management technology, and its ability to provide local community benefits through its award-winning apprenticeship program and employment programs.
