Compare sustainability best practices in your facility to those others have implemented

See a table showing which sustainability best practices you have implemented, and then see how many others in the database have implemented each of those best practices. Examples include building commissioning, energy-efficient lighting, CO2 monitoring for outside air makeup controls, VFDs, recycling programs, and many more.

Compare your energy consumption cost-per-unit-area to those of others

See a chart showing only those buildings to which you want your building compared (based on a series of filters that you select, such as building location, type of building, and over 20 more). The chart identifies your building, and automatically assigns it to one of four quartiles, based on cost-per-unit area for each utility. Then see which best practices others in your quartile have implemented and compare them to what you have done.

Compare your energy consumption cost-per occupant to those of others

This is very similar to the previous item, except that a slightly different metric is used. Click here to see an example.

Identify energy-saving measures recommended for your facility, based on comparable facilities

By studying the utility charts and then looking at the best practices that others have done, you will get more than ideas for what will reduce your energy consumption—you will gain much of what you need to justify any changes that are recommended. FMs using this methodology have reduced their energy consumption by 40% over ten years.

Identify preventive maintenance best practices to keep your equipment running more efficiently

Using similar techniques to what was done in the analysis of the energy consumption metrics, you will see how your building compares to other similar buildings, and which best practices those “comparables” have implemented. Click here to see an example.

Compare your building’s carbon footprint to those of others in similar buildings

Use FM BENCHMARKING to measure your building’s carbon footprint, and see how it compares to those of similar buildings. Then see which best practices the better performing buildings are doing so you can see how to reduce your building’s carbon footprint.

Identify what similar buildings have done to achieve ENERGY STAR and LEED-EBOM certifications

Besides showing you how close your building is to achieving LEED-EB certification, FM BENCHMARKING will identify which of the LEED-EB requirements others in your filter-set have satisfied, and how they compare to what you have done. It also can do this to compare those who have ENERGY STAR certification, so you can see what they have done differently than you.
