New York University School of Continuing and Professional Studies (NYU SCPS)

NYU SCPS annually provides some 4,000 continuing education courses, professional certificate programs, intensive programs, workshops and seminars in a wide array of subject areas. Certificates are offered in such areas as: Hotel Operations; Building Information Modeling Using Revit; Commercial Property Management; Computer-Aided Design Using AutoCAD; Construction Project Management; Facility Management; Global Real Estate; and Sustainable Design, Construction and Development.

Northern Illinois University (NIU)

NIU offers Professional and Continuing Education courses taught by skilled NIU faculty and professionals with real-world experience. Participants need not apply to the university. The courses are non-credit, so do not apply towards an academic degree, but many provide appropriate CPEs/CEUs from professional organizations. Professional development courses can be tailored for an organization’s needs and brought directly to the workplace or hosted at one of NIU’s conference centers in Naperville, Rockford or Hoffman Estates.

Facility Management
As a licensed provider of the Certified Facility Manager (CFM) and Facility Management Professional (FMP) credential competency courses, NIU offers FM-related courses in partnership with the International Facility Management Association (IFMA). Courses are open to non-CFM or FMP candidates as well.

Engineering and Technology Programs
The College of Engineering and Engineering Technology National Safety Education Center is an OSHA training institute, offering both trainer and training courses and certificates in the Construction, General Industry, Safety and Health, and Disaster Site and Maritime industries.

LEED and Sustainability Training
In partnership with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), NIU offers a series of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) workshops, courses and seminars to help prepare participants to pass the LEED Green Associate or LEED AP Exam, certify a LEED project, or expand sustainable building knowledge. NIU also offers training on energy auditing, renewable energy, and other sustainability issues.

U.S. General Services Administration (GSA)

GSA provides workplaces by constructing, managing, and preserving government buildings and by leasing and managing commercial real estate. GSA’s acquisition solutions offer private sector professional services, equipment, supplies, telecommunications and information technology to government organizations and the military. GSA offers training programs (listed under GSA Events) for federal agency employees and vendors working with the federal government, in such fields as IT and telecommunications, travel and transportation, and construction and buildings.

U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Training Institute

OSHA offers a wide selection of training courses and educational programs to help broaden worker and employer knowledge on the recognition, avoidance, and prevention of safety and health hazards in their workplaces. OSHA also offers training and educational materials that help businesses train their workers and comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Act. CEUs may be applied for to outside organizations. The OSHA Training Institute (OTI) Education Centers are a national network of nonprofit organizations authorized by OSHA to deliver occupational safety and health training to public and private sector workers, supervisors, and employers on behalf of OSHA. OTI courses cover OSHA standards and Outreach Training Program trainer and update courses as well as topics such as recordkeeping, machine guarding, confined space entry, electrical standards, and fall arrest systems. The UCSD Extension Office offers professional certificates and Business courses from a wide range of industries, including Environment & Sustainability, Facilities Management, Project Management and Real Estate & Urban Planning. Facilities Management Certificate

UCSD’s Professional Certificate in Facilities Management offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip attendees with the knowledge, skills and tools necessary to make effective and sustainable FM decisions that reduce costs while enhancing their organization’s facilities and services. Certificate registration is required. Courses offer strategies and techniques in all nine areas of competency recognized by the International Facilities Management Association (IFMA): planning and project management, real estate, leadership and management, finance, operations and maintenance, quality assessment and innovation, human and environmental factors, communication, and technology. University of Kansas (KU) Professional & Continuing Education

Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM)

The Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM) (formerly the British Institute of Facilities Management [BIFM]) is the pioneering body for UK workplace and FM professionals. IWFM shares best practice and knowledge with the profession and supports members’ professional development through internationally recognized, regulated qualifications, short courses and training.

Customizable IWFM qualifications are available at every career level and in different sizes: Award, Certificate, Diploma and Extended Diploma. IWFM helps FM professionals develop the knowledge and skills they need to progress with the qualifications.
