by Brianna Crandall — March 11, 2016—Smarter Security, Inc., provider of premium, innovative entrance control and outdoor security solutions, recently announced that a new office tower in Boston selected Fastlane Glasswing optical turnstiles to secure the building lobby entrance.
The owner of the building scheduled to open this year also opened a nearby building with Glasswing turnstiles in 2010. The “highly positive” experience over the years reportedly convinced the company to match the aesthetics across the buildings and rely on a proven solution.
This customer ordered five lanes of Fastlane Glasswing from Smarter Security to secure the lobby entrance of the office tower opening in Boston later this year. A consultant specified the Glasswing turnstiles for the same customer back in 2009 due to Fastlane’s technology advantage. In both buildings, the tops of the turnstiles were customized to match the unique stone in the buildings.
Smarter Security’s flexibility in handling this customization request the first time, the effectiveness of the entry control, and the reliability of the lanes over the many years since startup reportedly led to this second order. Despite the numerous turnstile brands available, the customer chose to continue buying Fastlane due to its industry-leading technology and aesthetics.
Smarter Security’s Fastlane Glasswing is a turnstile with wing-shaped, glass barriers that retract into the pedestals upon authorization. The barriers move quickly out of the path and will stay open for a series of authorized entrants. Safety beams prevent human contact by the barriers. In fact, Glasswing has more beams dedicated to safety than some competitive turnstiles have altogether, claims the company.
Intruders as close as ¼” inch behind authorized users will be alarmed, and anyone entering the lane without a credential or pushing aside the barriers will sound different alarms. An optional locking barrier will prevent the barriers from being opened by hand. Glasswing is UL 2593 listed to further enhance safety and streamline building inspections.
