Find out how Accruent’s CMMS software acquisition can help your multi-site facilities move from reactive to preventive maintenance

by Brianna Crandall — June 13, 2018 — Austin, Texas-based Accruent, a global software provider for physical resource management, just announced a definitive agreement to acquire Maintenance Connection, a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) provider. The company also just acquired EMS Software, bringing the workplace and campus management platform into its portfolio.

Accruent’s software helps organizations achieve superior performance by transforming how they manage their physical resources across the full life cycle. Its cloud-based software and services enable organizations to optimize all stages of real estate, facilities and asset management, from capital planning through to IoT-based monitoring and control. More than 10,000 global customers in a wide range of industries in 150 countries around the world depend on Accruent solutions to drive out hidden costs, extend asset lifecycles, protect their brands, ensure compliance, and deliver on the mission of their organization.

Maintenance Connection — CMMS software

This agreement accelerates Accruent’s efforts to help customers gain insight and make data-driven decisions for multi-site facilities management (FM). Customers will be able to view their physical resource assessments, view data from Internet of Things (IoT) sensors, trigger maintenance orders, and have a full view of their engineering documentation — all from Accruent.

Maintenance Connection’s software helps maintenance teams manage work orders, organize and execute preventive maintenance, predict asset maintenance, and manage enterprise assets and equipment inventory. It is built to handle the needs of complex enterprises with capabilities that include multi-site deployment, IoT sensors and M2M (machine-to-machine) data exchange to generate insights into asset management. The CMMS software supports large organizations through proven integrations with 25 top ERP systems including Aptean, Infor XA, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, SAP and Sage. Maintenance Connection is used by 350,000 maintenance managers worldwide through both cloud-based and on-premises platforms.

According to John Borgerding, CEO, Accruent:

More than 56% of organizations are still performing reactive, instead of preventative maintenance, and lack the data that they need to drive decisions. The mission of our customers is often to reduce costs and increase productivity while anticipating and supporting a facility’s goals. That’s why we are expanding our multi-site CMMS offerings to help deliver those efficiencies.

To enable insights across multiple aspects of physical resource management, Maintenance Connection will integrate with Accruent solutions, including:

  • Visibility to physical resource assessments with Kykloud to build long-term capital plans coupled with maintenance data;
  • View of engineering information management to increase knowledge for repairs with Meridian; and
  • Integration of IoT sensor data and alarms with Verisae into M2M exchanges.

Eric Morgan, CEO of Maintenance Connection, stated:

The combination of Accruent and Maintenance Connection will provide tremendous additional value to maintenance managers. The average customer can save over $3 million with our solution by extending asset life, reducing downtime, improving labor efficiency and lowering inventory expenses. We see tremendous opportunities to integrate our CMMS with Accruent’s capital planning, IoT and engineering information management solutions and creating new services to support our customers.

The acquired solution set and its planned enhancements will continue serving existing Maintenance Connection customers and will be offered as a complement to Accruent’s existing physical resource management solutions.

EMS Software — space management platform

Accruent’s acquisition of EMS Software offers customers the ability to make data-driven meeting space planning decisions. This acquisition continues to build on Accruent’s strategy to deliver the entire lifecycle of managing physical resources to core industries including enterprises, higher education, healthcare, and the public sector.

The EMS Software solutions manage, monitor and control every aspect of meeting rooms, classrooms, gathering spaces, and office hoteling through a single platform.  The software serves over 8 million users per day at more than 2,000 organizations, providing the visibility, control and insight that enterprises and universities need to increase productivity, reduce costs, attract and retain people, and differentiate their brand.

The platform integrates with Microsoft Office, Google G Suite and additional industry-standard and best-of-breed hardware and software solutions, including the Accruent maintenance management platform.  EMS readily scales to support the needs of organizations, offering campus-wide scheduling, advanced meeting management features, self-service video conferencing, integration flexibility, configurable business rules, and comprehensive analytics, says Accruent.

Accruent CEO Borgerding stated:

The mission of our clients is to optimize their physical spaces, create a stellar working or learning environment and reduce costs.  We acquired EMS Software because their platform helps our customers achieve their missions. When integrated with our existing portfolio, organizations get the analytics and insights they need to make data-driven space planning decisions.  We are learning from our 175 joint customers and are proud to continue investing in the EMS platform.

Work and study spaces are evolving to become more flexible across both business and education.  According to Gallup’s 2017 State of the American Workplace report, about 70% of US offices utilize an “open” environment, indicating this design is now mainstream.  Universities are creating adaptable learning spaces by incorporating makerspaces, building in telepresence technologies, and keeping creative rooms available for longer hours to support collaborative education.  The Accruent portfolio with EMS products is positioned to assist companies and schools that have already implemented or are adopting these growing design trends.

Craig Halliday, CEO, EMS Software, remarked:

By bringing EMS and Accruent together, we’ll help a broader array of enterprises and universities get the most from their work and learning environments. Our customers will realize greater benefits by tapping into Accruent’s global support and delivery team while integrating room scheduling with Accruent’s solutions in maintenance management, project management and capital planning.

Accruent will continue supporting EMS Software customers and pursuing the product’s multi-year roadmap while adding integration with Accruent’s existing physical resource management solutions.
