For anywhere you use padlocks, this smart version offers access via fingerprint, Bluetooth — and adds remote management

by Brianna Crandall — November 26, 2018 — Internet of Things (IoT) technology start-up Tapplock, said to be the creator of the first smart fingerprint padlock, introduced its newest generation of smart security, the Tapplock one+, along with its new enterprise access control management platform, Tapplock enterprise, at the 2018 International Security Convention and Exposition (ISC East) event.

The company’s innovative smart fingerprint padlock is touted as a convergence of biometrics, security and wireless technologies.

Unlike traditional locks that can take up to 15 seconds to open, the new Tapplock one+ allows users to access their items in 0.8 seconds with their fingerprint and has an adaptive algorithm that allows the lock to become faster and more accurate with each use. The smart padlock can be unlocked three ways: fingerprint, Bluetooth via the Tapplock App, and Morse code.

The Tapplock one+ is equipped with a 7mm reinforced stainless-steel shackle and has an IP67 waterproof rating that allows the lock to function even when completely submerged. The lock’s battery lasts up to a year with a single charge, which equates to around 3,500 unlocks per charge.

Tapplock one+ is designed to identify users to 99.999% accuracy, and stores up to 500 fingerprints per lock. Along with an enhanced design, the Tapplock one+ features 128-bit AES encryption on top of a custom 128-bit encryption, along with a myriad of key security protocols for enhanced security.

Tapplock one+ is available in three colors: Sterling Silver, Gun Metal and Midnight Black.

Tapplock enterprise access control management platform

The Tapplock enterprise access control management platform works with the Tapplock one+ and allows businesses of all sizes to set custom permissions for each user and manage them by groups. Whether it’s a manager, staff or contractor, you have full control, says the company.

Using the platform, employers can view all of their locks on a map as well as deploy and revoke fingerprint access remotely and manage access privileges such as times of day individuals can access a lock. Employers also set access privileges with three ways to unlock: fingerprint, Bluetooth or Morse code.

Comprehensive audit reports allow businesses to track every account activity with ease and view timestamps for when a lock was unlocked and locked. The platform sends mobile notifications for account-related events and exports audit reports.

Tapplock service clients in utilities, logistics, manufacturing, information technology (IT), health care, government, education and a wide range of industries that use padlocks.
