NeoCon 2019: Carpet or vinyl? Now you can alternate both, with these complementary carbon-neutral tiles from Interface

by Brianna Crandall — June 10, 2019 — Interface, a worldwide modular flooring company with a strong focus on sustainability, is introducing its first flooring collection to integrate both hard and soft modular tiles this week at the NeoCon commercial interiors show in Chicago.

Look Both Ways

Look Both Ways is Interface’s first global collection to pair luxury vinyl tile (LVT) and modular carpet tile with intentional design. Conceptualized by lead product designer Kari Pei, Look Both Ways is inspired by composite ground materials and is a dual collection of complementary patterns, “combining Zen-like purity with playfulness,” says the company. Concrete textures are reimagined as plush carpet and mimicked on smooth LVT in simple, solid forms. Marrying purpose and function with intention, these styles create landscapes designed to perform and delight in infinite ways.

As the Interface flooring system is modular, LVT and carpet can be easily and efficiently installed side-by-side to achieve an integrated flooring system of hard and soft without the need for transition strips.

Look Both Ways, like all Interface products globally, is part of the company’s Carbon Neutral Floors program that zeroes out the carbon emissions associated with the lifecycle of the product.

Carpet

Inspired by composite ground materials, Look Both Ways carpet tile is made with 100% recycled nylon and is carbon neutral like all other Interface products.

Concrete textures are reimagined as plush carpet in Step It Up, the foundation of the carpet tile collection. This product includes the best urban grays plus six streetwear-inspired colors. The other patterns share the same neutral palette, but each has distinctly different textures: Step in Time carries the nuance of a crushed velvet; the curves of Step This Way are the softer twin to Walk About LVT; and Step Aside steals the show with a spray of accent colors tossed across the plush finish.

Look Both Ways LVT is made with Interface’s Sound Choice backing for superior sound reduction, and like all our products all over the world, it’s carbon neutral.

Concrete textures are mimicked on smooth LVT in simple, solid forms. Walk of Life, the bedrock of the LVT collection, is gritty-looking, not polished. Sharing the same urban gray palette, Walk the Aisle sparkles with a luminescent fleck that energizes the surface. Walk About appears carved in ways that conjure pattern-love from the 1920s, 1970s, 1980s, and today. And finally, the confetti-inspired Walk on By is a “vision of pure joy” in brights and neutrals, says Interface.
