Facilities Benchmarking is the identification of industry best practices that lead to superior performance, where data from individual facilities are measured against those from other comparable ones. Each month, courtesy of FM BENCHMARKING, a leading benchmarking online service for facilities managers and CREs, FMLink is presenting a new article focusing on a key benchmarking metric.
FM BENCHMARKING incorporates data from over 400 of the 500 Fortune 500 companies, as well as many other organizations, to develop its metrics. The metrics cover the relationship between Costs, Sustainability and Best Practices, so facility professionals can compare not only their facilities' operating costs to others, but see the differences in best practices as well, which will help them identify and justify what may need to be modified in their facilities. Through a powerful series of filters, each organization is assured of comparing one's facilities to only those that are comparable.
The Costs Survey addresses more than 90% facilities' operating costs, and focuses on Utilities, Maintenance, Custodial and Security Costs and Best Practices. The Sustainability Survey incorporates LEED-EB as well as other Sustainability Best Practices. If there is a specific analysis that you would like us to consider for a future month's article on FMLink, please e-mail FM BENCHMARKING at surveyinfo@fmbenchmarking.com.
