IAMFA’s Annual Conference offers learning, networking, and exploring in one of the world’s great cities and its top cultural institutions, with a parallel guest program. The annual event convenes facilities professionals from museums and other cultural facilities around the world to support their efforts to set and attain standards of excellence and quality in the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of world-class cultural facilities. Attendees learn from other museum facilities professionals what they are doing to improve operations and sustainability and reduce operating costs, and best practices in dealing with the same issues they are.
The inaugural Australian conference set to take place during October 2020 in Melbourne and Hobart was regrettably cancelled. In place of the face-to-face conference, IAMFA will deliver a series of virtual presentations, programs and events including highlights from the Melbourne and Hobart venues. Pre-recorded conference presentations and extra content will be made available at the end of each conference day. The event will include virtual tours of Australian museums.
AASHE’s now-virtual conference and expo is said to be the largest stage to exchange effective models, policies, research, collaborations and transformative actions that advance sustainability in higher education and surrounding communities. Humanity faces a series of intensifying and interrelated social and ecological crises. Solving these crises requires a holistic transformation: a shift from an extractive economy to a regenerative economy. With a theme of “Mobilizing for a Just Transition,” this year’s conference will focus on centering justice within this transformation and ensuring that it leaves no one behind.
