CIRI is hosting “COVID-19: The Second Wave,” a three-part webinar series, over a period of three months in an ongoing effort to provide the latest research related to COVID-19 and protection of the built environment. Each will address new and emerging science related to the transmission of COVID-19 and how that translates into best practices for cleaning professionals, with related strategies to mitigate risk. Presentations will last approximately 45 minutes, followed by 15 minutes of question and answer. Video recordings will be available for those who register but are unable to attend the webinars live. Continuing education credits are available for each webinar, and attendees will receive a certificate of attendance. Webinar Three: “Viral Transmission in the Indoor Environment and the Impact of Cleaning,” presented by Dr. Karen Dannemiller, Assistant Professor, College of Engineering, College of Public Health, The Ohio State University, is scheduled for January 26 at 3:00 p.m. EST. We spend 90% of our time indoors, and viral transmission of COVID-19 is more likely to occur in the indoor compared to the outdoor environment. This session will describe aspects of exposure pathways for viral transmission indoors, efficient cleaning techniques, and strategies to reduce exposure to the virus during cleaning.
SafetyFOCUS is an immersion in safety education with industry leaders who cover a wide range of topics that will help occupational safety and health (OSH) professionals excel at keeping workers safe. Due to COVID-19, SafetyFOCUS has shifted from an in-person event to a live virtual experience in 2021 to make the event more accessible while offering the same networking opportunities and high-quality education. Running February 8-12 and 15-19, courses cover construction, ergonomics, fall protection, risk assessment and management, safety management systems and more.
The 2021 AHR Expo originally scheduled to be held January 25-27, 2021, at McCormick Place in Chicago has been canceled. The 2021 ASHRAE Winter Virtual Conference will take place in a convenient online format February 9-11, and will include a mixture of live, pre-recorded and on-demand sessions. Additional details about the conference and committee meetings will be available in the coming weeks on the website.
