Initiated in 2008 by Global FM, World FM Day aims to recognize the vital work that FM professionals contribute to business worldwide, and to raise the profile of the FM profession anywhere they influence the health, safety, productivity and well-being of people who utilize the built environment. This year’s theme is “Celebrating Global ISO FM Standards,” which acknowledges the milestone of creating the ISO 41000 series of Standards and Technical Report focused on the global FM industry. Activities are encouraged the week of May 13-17. FM organizations on six continents will celebrate World FM Day by holding public events such as staff luncheons, panel seminars and workshops, social media chats, client networking events and more. Winners of the Global FM Awards for Excellence in Facilities Management will be announced. Global FM will offer promotional materials for the event on its site.
IFMA is expressing its appreciation to FMs by featuring a free content resource for each day of World FM Week. IFMA encourages FMs to show their support by adding the World FM Day twibbon to their Twitter and Facebook profile pictures for the week of May 13-17, and encourages activities the whole month. Let IFMA or Global FM know how you plan to celebrate World FM Day, and they will help spread the word via social media channels.
