by AF 0617a3 NEOCON — June 19, 2009—Couture, inspired by Wool, a new collection from Shaw Contract Group, emulates the luxury and versatility of a natural wool carpet while providing the performance and recyclability of nylon, says the company. The product was known as “Wool” when it was first introduced at NeoCon.

The collection, with three broadloom and three modular styles, captured a Gold award in The Best of NeoCon product competition for three styles in the Broadloom Carpet category, as well as a Gold Award for three styles in the Modular Carpet category.

The introduction of Wool marks the expansion of Shaw’s Eco Solution Q nylon line. The new yarn is inspired by the design effect achieved by constructing carpet with non-traditional materials such as metallic studs and hand-spun natural wool.

Wool uses EcoWorx backings for performance and recyclability. EcoWorx tile backing contains 40 percent pre-consumer recycled content, while EcoWorx Broadloom contains 20 percent post-consumer content.

Wool products contribute to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System points for flooring systems, recycled content, and adhesives and sealants, among others.

The Best of NeoCon competition is a highlight of NeoCon World’s Trade Fair, held annually in June at The Merchandise Mart, Chicago. For more information, visit the Web site of the Shaw Contract Group.
