by Brianna Crandall — August 26, 2016 — Dahua Technology USA has released a “small but mighty” newcomer to its Pro Series PTZ camera line, with two pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) models designed to capture long-distance video surveillance in indoor or outdoor applications.
With a powerful 12x optical zoom, the compact, 2MP high-resolution PTZ camera provides 30fps@1080p and 60fps@720p, allowing operators to monitor wide scenes at high frame rates without losing details.
Embedded with an infrared (IR) cut filter for varying lighting conditions and wide dynamic range (WDR) technology (120dB) to capture important details in scenes with both bright and dark areas, the camera is designed to provide excellent images at any time of day.
The new 2MP 12x In-ceiling PTZ MiniDome Network Camera is ideal for suspended ceilings, or a surface-mount model allows for easy installation on hard ceilings.
The new Pro Series PTZ camera provides a choice of either an indoor, in-ceiling (DH-SD42AC212TN-HN) model ideal for the aesthetics of suspended ceilings, or a surface-mount model designed for easy installation on hard ceilings. It can also be pendant mounted (DH-SD42A212TN-HN) on a wall or a pipe with the proper mounting hardware. Both models offer optional Intelligent Video Surveillance (IVS) with the ability to detect and analyze moving objects.

The surface-mount PTZ models feature a durable IK10 rating, the highest level of impact energy, to protect the camera from vandalism, damage and theft. Surface mount models feature an IP66 rated weather-proof housing for monitoring small to mid-size indoor/outdoor business applications. The camera’s aesthetic design and flexible mounting options allow unobtrusive surveillance of large areas that would otherwise require multiple cameras for effective surveillance, says the company.
Optional built-in intelligent video analytics provide the ability to detect and analyze moving objects for improved video surveillance. The PTZ camera provides standard intelligence at the edge, allowing detection of multiple object behaviors, such as abandoned or missing objects.
All models can be powered by an IEEE 802.3at PoE+ switch or a 24 VAC power supply. The camera conforms to the ONVIF (Open Network Video Interface Forum) and PSIA (Physical Security Interoperability Alliance) specifications, ensuring interoperability between network video products regardless of manufacturer.
