by Brianna Crandall — January 3, 2018 — According to Synthetic Grass Warehouse, a nationwide artificial grass supplier based out of Anaheim, California, artificial grass has not only been steadily growing in popularity for residential uses, but is now also increasingly being used on commercial properties.
With today’s advanced turf products looking more realistic and being able to withstand heavier foot traffic, commercial properties are increasingly looking to convert their landscapes to artificial grass for lower maintenance costs, and to sometimes even provide recreational putting greens for their employees, says the company, which is the exclusive national distributor for TigerTurf and Everlast brands of synthetic grass products and specializes in those designed for landscaping, pets, putting greens, and playgrounds.
Artificial grass installation at The Irvine Company office
Demonstrating this emerging trend, artificial grass installer OC Turf and Putting Greens recently installed a 3,500-square-foot artificial turf putting green outside of The Irvine Company office. The installation includes a unique combination of True Putt, Pet Turf, and Diamond Pro Spring to achieve their desired look.
According to Synthetic Grass Warehouse, TigerTurf True Putt is a high-quality putting green that features PGA-rated high green speeds, while Diamond Pro Spring synthetic turf features a dual shade of field and lime green grass blades paired with a brown thatch layer for that extra touch of realism. Pet Turf is extremely durable, made for high levels of traffic, and is equipped with proprietary turf backing where each grass blade is triple reinforced through tuft bind technology.
David Vega, owner of OC Turf and Putting Greens, explained:
The Irvine Company wanted to provide their employees with an activity they could enjoy on their break or after work. They had this beautiful open space that could really be transformed.
While installing this green, the OC Turf and Putting Greens crew had to be very cautious of the surrounding trees, noted Vega, adding:
They care a lot about their trees, so we worked with arborists to ensure the turf installation wouldn’t disturb them. We worked hard to make sure the putting green complimented the trees, instead of getting rid of them.
Putting greens have reportedly been a hugely popular request for OC Turf and Putting Greens. Vega pointed out:
A lot of people install putting greens because they’re good practice for golfers, but they’re also family friendly. Anyone can play and spend time together, but it also makes any yard or commercial area look great.
OC Turf and Putting Greens has been installing artificial grass throughout Orange County and the County of Los Angeles since 2006. Other notable installations include The Festival of the Arts, as well as the federal building in Laguna Niguel. The customer-oriented company has also won “Best Synthetic Grass Company in Laguna Niguel” two years running.
