by Brianna Crandall — June 20, 2018 — Abundant Power Group recently announced a new service for owners of building portfolios: The Comfort Test. The company describes The Comfort Test as a simple, quick and impactful way for building management teams to use analytics to gain insight into typical chronic building issues. This low-cost test provides a compelling report on the comfort performance of the buildings’ mechanical systems — on a zone-by-zone level.
Following a simple four-step process, the report can be generated in 30 days or less. The Comfort Test will provide building portfolio owners a foundation for building performance improvements and increased return on investment (ROI) for all stakeholders.
Shannon Smith, CEO of Abundant Power, remarked:
The Comfort Test results are going to surprise many building management teams. But the good news is that analytics provides a clear path on how to address issues without sacrificing on operating costs.
After completing a short digital questionnaire, Abundant Power will create a simple, secure connection to a building’s building management system (BMS), then analyze the building’s data for the past 30 days. Upon completion, facilities management (FM) will receive their Comfort Test scores with associated report. The report breaks down zone comfort across the building, predictive comfort trends as it relates to weather, and which zones are least comfortable.
Derek McGarry, head building performance engineer, Abundant Power, pointed out:
Commercial real estate owners don’t own buildings to save energy; they own buildings to provide a comfortable and productive space for occupants. We can help them do both.
Abundant Power has long offered the Comfort Score as part of their Performance Analytics, with real-time reporting on tenants’ comfort, based on desired and actual temperatures, helping managers reduce complaints. Users of The Comfort Test can sign up for Performance Analytics with a reduced set-up fee, and take advantage of the full suite of services, including the Comfort Score.
Abundant Power says its services “weaponize data to dramatically improve comfort, asset life, and expense control of any portfolio,” and work with all commercial asset classes, building sizes, and building technologies anywhere in the world.
