by Brianna Crandall — July 25, 2018 — Toter, a Wastequip brand and manufacturer of products used in the collection of waste, recycling and organics across the nation, has recently launched a new 32-gallon medical waste cart. Biohazard-compatible and suitable for use in a wide range of medical facilities, from offices and ambulatory care facilities to surgical centers and hospitals, the new cart was developed in response to customer demand for a smaller, more maneuverable cart, says Toter.
With a load rating of 112 pounds and available with two wheels or two-wheels/two-casters, the new medical waste cart allows heavy loads to be moved quickly and easily. The cart is also gasketed and features a locking lid (barrel lock) to eliminate the possibility of leaks from biohazard material and provide an additional degree of security. The carts are also fully stackable and nestable to allow for easy initial transport and storage, as well as rapid change-outs for sterilization.
Unlike other carts on the market, which are injection-molded plastic, Toter medical waste carts are purpose-built for medical applications using Toter’s proprietary Advanced Rotational Molding process, which ensures durability, provides additional reinforcements, and reduces the risk of cracking common with lower-quality plastic carts, says the company. Toter’s 32-gallon carts are also said to be unique in shape, fitting into tight spaces more easily than the more commonly seen box-shaped containers and carts.
Toter Director of Product Development and Warranty Jeniffer Coates stated:
Medical waste carts present unique challenges because they must meet OSHA and other standards for hazardous material and withstand heavy use and frequent cleaning and/or sterilization. With the new cart’s incredibly high strength-to-weight ratio, easy portability, compact size and security features, we’ve delivered a medical waste cart that fills a void in the market and makes it much easier for medical facilities to ensure safety, compliance and efficiency, all with a longer service life and lower total cost of ownership than competing products.
The new 32-gallon Toter carts are part of Toter’s broader line of medical products, which includes 64- and 96-gallon carts, as well as tilt trucks, containers and accessories. The entire line of products is flexible, impact-resistant and designed to easily handle the day-to-day and long-term abuse of medical waste collection. Toter carts are compatible with all major brands of lifters and other waste-stream management products and come with a standard two-year warranty against manufacturer defects.
