14Forty, CBRE combine to provide FM services for National Grid

by Brianna Crandall — February 22, 2016—The U.K.-and U.S.-based international electricity and gas company National Grid has awarded contracts to two facilities management (FM) service providers following a competitive tender process.

The chosen providers, 14Forty, a division of Compass Group U.K. and Ireland, and the U.K. / EMEA division of global property advisor CBRE Group will work together overseeing soft and hard FM services for the entire National Grid estate.

In what is said to be a new style of operating model, CBRE will provide hard services relating to the building, its systems and critical engineering work, with 14Forty delivering soft services, including ground maintenance.

In addition, 14Forty will have an integration role to ensure the end user receives a seamless service as the two providers work together to provide services and solutions. 14Forty has worked with National Grid since 2009, and says it looks forward to operating the unique integrated model.

Carl Longworth, corporate property portfolio manager at National Grid, commented:

This new style of working will bring great benefits for us at National Grid, and those who work with us. I was extremely impressed with 14Forty and CBRE and what they proposed, especially given the complexity of National Grid sites.

The contracts begin on April 1, 2016, for soft services and June 1, 2016 for hard services.
