2014 ALA/IIDA awards for library interior design demonstrate excellence and innovation

by Brianna Crandall — May 2, 2014—The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and the Library Leadership and Management Association (LLAMA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), have just announced the winners of the 2014 ALA/IIDA Library Interior Design Awards. This biennial competition honors international excellence in library interior design. Award winners are said to demonstrate excellence in aesthetics, design, creativity, function, and satisfaction of the client’s objectives.

“The entries that we received for this biennial competition clearly speak to the evolving needs of 21st-century library patrons,” IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA, LEED AP, said. “And they illustrate that library design spaces can inspire as well as they function. In this 20th anniversary year of IIDA, we are pleased to honor and celebrate this year’s winners and their contribution to the elevation of design.”

The Best of Category winners of the 2014 ALA/IIDA Library Interior Design Awards are:

The Best of Competition winner will be announced at the ALA Annual Conference and Exhibition in Las Vegas on June 26, 2014, where all of the competition winners will be celebrated.
