by Shane Henson — January 11, 2013—Acuity Brands Inc., a provider of indoor and outdoor luminaires and light-emitting diode (LED) technology, recently announced that it secured a contract to install Lithonia Lighting RT Series LED luminaires at a building used by the Iowa Public Employees’ Retirement System (IPERS).
According to Acuity Brands, through the installation of the luminaries, IPERS will be better able to meet its short-term energy savings goals for its 43,000-square-foot building, while also positioning itself to achieve its long-term goal of operating as a net-zero energy building.
In addition to specifying RT Series LED luminaires, IPERS incorporated Peerless lighting solutions from the Acuity Brands portfolio to create a modern look and feel in the conference rooms. Through the integrated lighting and controls solutions, IPERS has experienced a $12,000 (70 percent) reduction in energy costs in the last three months over the same three-month period from the previous year.
“We decided to specify Acuity Brands products because of the indoor ambient LED lighting option,” said Brad Lauritsen of Key Professional Engineers, who performed an energy audit of the facility. “The RT Series luminaire from Lithonia Lighting neatly integrates with nLight technology to create a total solution from a single supplier.”
