AeraMax Pro: 1st commercial air purifier certified for allergies

by Brianna Crandall — October 12, 2015—AeraMax Professional, part of Fellowes Brands, just announced that its flagship air purifier of the same name is the first commercial-grade air purifier to earn asthma & allergy friendly Certification from the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) .

Aeramax Pro air purifier

The commercial-grade machine is said to be 99.9% effective against odors, germs, allergens, VOCs and other problem-causing air impurities.

The certification is given to products that are scientifically proven to reduce allergens and irritants and are suitable for people living with asthma and allergies. Selected household appliances and linens have also previously received the designation, including the personal AeraMax air purifiers for the home.

“We’re honored to receive this designation by AAFA, which is a standard-bearer for allergy and asthma prevention and awareness,” said AeraMax Professional’s Global Marketing Director Jeff Dryfhout, who made the announcement at the 2015 IFMA World Workplace in Denver. “This designation for our commercial-grade product is a breakthrough for employers and facility managers, who can now more confidently address these year-round air quality concerns in the workplace.

“Many airborne contaminants can be asthma and allergy triggers, especially in crowded common areas such as offices and schools, and this new product can help to reduce these triggers and give workers and students cleaner air.”

About one in four Americans suffer from either allergies or asthma, and the prevalence of these conditions is increasing, according to the AAFA. Common indoor triggers include airborne pollutants such as dust mite particles, volatile organic compounds and mold spores, all of which AeraMax Professional removes from the air, says the company.

Asthma’s annual toll on the U.S. economy is an estimated $56 billion, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In 2008 alone, asthma was responsible for 14.2 million missed days of work and 10.5 million missed days of school. AAFA’s asthma & allergy friendly Certification Program was created nearly 10 years ago to provide stricter standards for products that claim to reduce asthma and allergy triggers. Products that earn the certification are independently tested and must reach specified standards.

AeraMax Professional is said to effectively eliminate 99.9 percent of airborne contaminants as small as 0.3 microns using true HEPA filtration, and has been proven to also remove 99.9 percent of infectious influenza particles from the air in as little as 35 minutes. The device is designed to integrate into common areas such as offices, schools, living facilities and hospitality venues. It is reportedly the only air purification product line developed with patented EnviroSmart technology that responds to the environment, allowing for efficient and low-maintenance operation. AeraMax Professional is part of Fellowes Brands, founded in 1917, with products in more than 100 countries.
