AIHA publications cover chemicals, environmental health and safety programs

by Brianna Crandall — October 4, 2010—The American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) has published the French version of its IH MOD, and will soon launch its newly completed Value Strategy Manual.

The IH MOD is a workbook of models that is a supplement to the Mathematical Models for Estimating Occupational Exposure to Chemicals, second edition. IH MOD uses Microsoft Excel to calculate algorithms for airborne concentrations of chemicals. AIHA’s Exposure Assessment Strategies Committee (EASC) plans to create IH MODs in additional languages in the future.

AIHA will share its newly completed Value Strategy Manual at the Professional Conference on Industrial Hygiene (PCIH) in October. AIHA transformed the 2008 Value of the Profession Study into this resource for practitioners, which outlines the processes and procedures needed to evaluate environmental health and safety (EHS) programs and initiatives to determine their impact on worker health and an organization’s business. Additionally, there are sample checklists, spreadsheets, and other tools to aid practitioners in conducting their own value assessment.
