Allseating launches You ergonomic chair to help office workers “sit fit”

by Shane Henson — October 28, 2013—Workers who find themselves tied to a chair throughout the work day could benefit from using a new type of chair from Allseating. The company says its new You chair was designed with a “revolutionary” U-shaped back suspension system, and offers “unprecedented” ergonomic support while encouraging “active sitting.”

The chair was developed to combat the many negative effects that being in a constant seating position has been shown to cause. Allseating notes that longer working hours, longer commutes, and longer time spent in front of screens for work and entertainment has led health experts to declare that the amount Americans sit is directly linked to increased obesity and workplace-related health issues.

The You chair back suspension “lifts” the user into the proper sitting position, engaging the core muscles, elongating the back, and aligning the body so that it encourages the chest to keep open and the shoulders to stay down and relaxed. This keeps the user sitting up tall and light on the sitting bones, instead of the more common position where people put too much weight on their tailbone, the company says.

At the core of the You chair is a deluxe synchro-tilt mechanism that smoothly reclines in perfect synch with body movements. This mechanism includes infinite tilt lock, seat pan adjustment, tension adjustment and height adjustment. Simply turning the activation dial a few clicks causes the mesh to bow and provide the precise tension needed, the company adds.

“Whether you’re going to be glued to your desk for the day or gathering for a quick conference, you can quickly and easily make the adjustments you need to be at your best,” explains Chris Binnendyk, president of Allseating.

The new You chair with mesh seat will be available this November and can be specified using Allseating’s innovative online SpecAll tool.
