by Shane Henson — April 22, 2013—Healthcare areas needing a new look and more comfortable seating can achieve this and more with the new head-to-toe seating solution from Allseating. The company’s Foster collection includes patient, guest and lounge seating that can be arranged in multiple and tandem configurations. Coordinating benches, ottomans, and complementary tables round out the line.
“The Foster collection balances the needs of today’s busy healthcare facilities with the support patients need,” says designer Cesar Fernandes, who has spent the last decade working within the healthcare market. Leveraging this experience, Fernandes designed Foster to specifically address the many challenges facing health and wellness facilities.
Products within the collection offer many benefits, including support over the long-term. The arms slope to encourage a more relaxed body position. The webbed seat frame creates an active suspension that, when together with supportive seat cushions, create a more comfortable sit. The frame itself is constructed of steel, so it’s highly durable when faced with frequent use. Replaceable components make it easy for facilities to make updates as requirements evolve.
The collection also offers flexible design. Because Foster includes a full complement of front-of-house and back-of-house solutions all available in standard, wide and bariatric sizes, it gives facilities the flexibility to create visual continuity throughout the environment.
Just as important, all of the seating products are easy to clean and care for. Foster has been designed to help facilities in the ongoing battle against the spread of infection, says Allseating. The absence of a side rail means that the entire perimeter of the seat is free of tight spaces where germs, crumbs and debris collect. Removable seat and back covers can be easily cleaned and replaced if needed. Even the mesh cover is easily cleaned.
Allseating says that while the Foster collection is geared toward healthcare environments, the seating solutions also work well for hospitality environments and educational and public spaces.
