by Rebecca Walker — June 8, 2009—Allsteel Inc. and HBF Textiles are working together to offer a selection of HBF Textiles graded in for Allsteel’s workplace furnishings.

This is the first partnership for HBF Textiles with any furniture manufacturer, and it allows Allsteel to significantly increasing its materials portfolio not merely by number but by scope, with an offering that includes styles by acclaimed designers and architects and with a decidedly more residential aesthetic.

The initial collection, which draws from HBF Textiles’ existing groups, will be showcased at NeoCon 2009, in Allsteel’s Chicago Merchandise Mart Resource Center, Space #1120.

Amy Luthman, Allsteel’s Product Manager for Surface Materials, and Mary Jo Miller, HBF Textiles’ Director of Design, headed what turned out to be a curatorial process in developing the lineup of textiles. With a discerning eye, they applied criteria that considered content, scale and performance factors. What has emerged for this launch is an offering that includes almost 50 percent of HBF Textiles’ total line. Of these approved fabrics, 75 percemnt are upholstery fabrics, a rich endowment for Allsteel’s materials library. What’s more, 75 percent of the Allsteel approved HBF Textiles fabrics are highly sustainablecontaining significant recycled content, rapidly renewable properties or are MBDC Cradle-to-Cradle Certified.

The co-venture between HBF Textiles and Allsteel translates to a tremendous advantage for architects, interior designers and other specifiers, especially since the choices are graded in, the companies say.
