by Ann Withanee — April 1, 2011—American Lighting, a manufacturer and distributor of lighting technologies for residential, commercial and specialty markets, has introduced the LED T8 Lamp, an indoor longer-life LED lamp that replaces existing two-foot or four-foot fluorescent lamps. The energy efficient LED costs less to run while giving a more reliable, clean and brighter light for commercial and residential installations, according to American Lighting.

The LED T8 Lamp offers up to 50,000 hours of life, turns on instantly, and is quiet and easy to install. It can be retrofitted into fixtures designed for 24-inch or 48-inch fluorescent T8 lamps and does not require a ballast. By eliminating the ballast, a potential failure point is also eliminated, lowering maintenance costs associated with replacing fluorescent components.

American Lighting’s LED T8 Lamp can directly replace traditional fluorescent lamps offering immediate savings with approximately a 45 percent reduction in energy usage.

The LED T8 Lamp is immediately available. For more information, visit the American Lighting Web site.
