by Shane Henson — October 31, 2012—Contract furniture manufacturer Arcadia recently launched Sign Tandem, a collection of seats and connecting tables that work well within healthcare environments, but may also be suitable for corporate, higher education and other spaces.
A rectangular steel frame, together with a slim, modern silhouette, sets Sign Tandem apart among competing products, says Arcadia. Seating options include 23″ wide guest chairs, 25″ wide lounge-size models and 32″ wide bariatric units, all of which are available individually as well as in tandem configurations. Among its many features is a passive flex-back for long-term seated comfort, clean-out area between the seat and back for easy maintenance, wall-saver leg design, and an array of replaceable components, from arm frames and arm caps to upholstery covers.
Tandem arrangements can be achieved through preconfigured two and three-seat combinations or as reconfigurable modular units. An interior metal seat frame system enables add-on capability such that seats and tables can be specified in any sequence for a custom look without the custom price. Additional benefits include increased durability, greater weight limit capacity, ability to add-on to or change configurations, as well as allow in-field component replacement to ensure a lifetime of usage.
The metal frame is available in five powdercoat finishes, including contemporary metallic champagne and graphite. Arm caps are offered in beech wood, black urethane and Corian selections while connecting tables feature coordinating wood and Corian options in addition to laminate alternatives, further contributing to Sign Tandem’s versatility and functionality. For the final touch, Microban antimicrobial wood finishes are standard on wood components to help prevent the growth of stain and odor-causing bacteria.
