by AF 0211 f3 — February 17, 2010—Arcadia has launched the Islands Modular seating system, which the company describes as a whimsical yet practical system that transforms a waiting area into a relaxing retreat.
Islands Modular features a light-scale design and playful energy that complement the clever simplicity inherent in its structure, according to the company. Intended for public seating areas in contemporary office environments, higher education institutions, healthcare waiting rooms, lobbies, corridors and the like, Islands consists of a center bench and circular pedestal system that can be arranged in seemingly infinite configurations. Multiple connection points allow for maximum flexibility in both overall scale and shape — each component is specified individually and can be rearranged or expanded upon as needed.
The collection is composed of a center seat available in two widths, with or without an optional backrest, and a 24-inch round pedestal that can be configured as an upholstered seat or a wood table. The pedestal is also offered with three base selections including a metal option finished in polished stainless steel, metallic silver, or satin black; a wood cylinder alternative in any of Arcadias standard and custom wood and laminate finishes; or an upholstered version in an endless selection of fabrics. Coordinating stand-alone benches and a childrens version called Islettes are also available.
