by Shane Henson — August 6, 2012—Arcadia, a southern California-based seating and table manufacturer, has added a lounge chair that combines the freedom of motion with productivity-enhancing capability to its extensive list of products suitable for a variety of professional environments.
Raising the bar for synergistic seating, the Roadster lounge chair features a defining cutback arm design that allows users to escape from a traditional, fixed-seated direction, without the need to physically move the chair about, says Arcadia. A conversation can start on one side, shift to group interaction, and then conclude on the opposite side, all from the seated position. Encouraging teamwork, Roadster supports impromptu and casual meetings, inspires engaging interactions, and offers seated comfort for gatherings of any length.
The product of a new partnership with design and development firm PLD Design Group, Roadster deliberately shares many characteristics of the recently introduced Intima Collection, also created by PLD.
“Originally intended to be part of the Intima Modular series, we saw a bigger potential with Roadster having its own identity,” states Helen Kim, Arcadia’s director of marketing. “Its distinct qualities define it as a smart solution for a variety of collaborative workspaces, whether by itself, with the Intima grouping, or accompanying other products. As its name implies, Roadster is fun, compact and gets you where you want to be with ease.”
Arm and armless lounge models are available on casters, fixed legs, or a combination of both. Mobile models are standard with two locking casters in the rear and non-locking casters in the front, whereas fixed metal legs are available in graphite, metallic champagne and metallic silver finishes. Additionally, practical accessories include a rotating tablet, power tray, cup holder, and a pull handle, reinforcing Roadster’s proclivity for productivity and convenience, the company says.
