January 8, 2003—ARCHIBUS Inc. has released a new version of its facilities and infrastructure management solution, FM Web Central, that fully supports Macromedia ColdFusion MX.
With this capability, the tool—which enables users to access facilities and infrastructure data over the Internet—is preparing for the evolution of Web services, by which applications can communicate with other programs through a single standard interface, regardless of platform.
“ColdFusion MX represents a step towards more Java-based applications,” says John Howard, Technical Product Manager at ARCHIBUS. “Our decision to align FM Web Central with this emerging technology enables our clients to prepare for the future of Web computing—which promises faster response times, dependable remote access, and enhanced functionality.”
The latest version of FM Web Central is also backward-compatible with ColdFusion 5. It also includes all files needed to remotely access the ARCHIBUS/FM Emergency Preparedness application, which offers tools for quickly generating reports on locations of hazardous materials, egress plans, headcounts, the chain effects of system failures, and more.
