August 24, 2007—Armstrong Commercial Flooring introduces Premier Performance Hardwood and Hartwood Parquet, the most durable floors in its hardwood portfolio, according to the company. Both flooring options feature an exclusive acrylic impregnation process that produces floor boards significantly harder than unprotected wood of the same species, Armstrong says.
Armstrong says its hardwood offers unprecedented indentation and wear resistance and sets a new industry standard for commercial hardwood durability.
Armstrong’s acrylic impregnation fills and supports wood’s open cells, and the company’s Permion finish provides ultimate surface protection, cost-effective installation and easy maintenance, says the company. The Permion finish also provides superior gloss retention.
The factory-finished hardwood boards install without any additional surface preparation needed, saving installation materials, labor and time. Routine dust-mopping or vacuuming and periodic buffing are all that are required to keep the floors looking their best.
These high-performance, engineered floors are made by bonding several wood layers together, with the feature species on the surface. Engineered wood flooring can be used virtually anywhere, even over concrete or below grade. It is more stable and less susceptible to shrinking and expanding than solid wood, allowing wood installations in spaces and on grade levels where solid hardwood is not recommended. As an engineered hardwood floor, it uses less raw material than traditional solid hardwood floors.
