AssetWorks partners with Actuate to enhance enterprise asset management

by Shane Henson — June 20, 2011—AssetWorks, a provider of enterprise asset management (EAM) software solutions, announced that it has teamed up with Actuate Corporation, the people behind the Eclipse BIRT (Business Intelligence and Reporting Tools) open source project. This relationship allows AssetWorks customers to embed BIRT, a premier data visualization technology, reporting functionality to compile and analyze data within its AiM enterprise asset management solution.

AssetWorks says the name AiM represents “intelligence within Asset Management”—a comprehensive facilities and asset management solution that enables organizations to effectively track expenditures, improve accountability, enhance service delivery, and extend the useful life of assets.

Integrating BIRT with AiM, AssetWorks enables organizations to meet their enterprise asset management needs—from asset life cycle management to operations and maintenance, to inventory control and space management. All of the information that AiM collects for client asset management are rolled out into BIRT driven rich data visualizations, allowing AssetWorks clients to monitor the status of their facilities by tracking key performance indicators (KPIs).

In addition to accessing BIRT-generated content within AiM, clients can also tap into the value-added commercial offerings from Actuate for increased EAM flexibility, organization-specific ad hoc reporting, dashboarding, analytics and distribution capabilities. Actuate and BIRT also provide AssetWorks’ clients with a tightly integrated solution for Web-based reporting, charting and analytics. BIRT has been customized to tightly integrate with AiM business processes and user interfaces.
