by Shane Henson — April 9, 2012—The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) recently honored 16 construction firms with Alliant Build America Awards during its 93rd annual convention. According to AGC, which was created to serve the nation’s construction professionals, the awards recognize those who build the nation’s most impressive construction projects ranging across the building, highway and transportation, municipal and utilities, and federal and heavy divisions.
The firms honored this year for projects in 2011 are:
- Building (New Construction): Clark Construction’s development of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency Campus in Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
- Building (New Construction of $10 Million or Less): Hall Construction’s development of the Empty Sky: 9/11 Memorial in Jersey City, New Jersey.
- Building (Renovation): Byrne Construction Services’ renovation of the Lila Cockrell Theatre in San Antonio, Texas.
- Building (Renovation of $10 Million or Less): Faulk and Meek General Contractors’ renovations and additions to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Brusly, Louisiana.
- Construction Management (New Construction): Turner Construction’s development of the Livestrong Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kansas.
- Construction Management (Renovation): Suffolk Construction’s renovation of the Suffolk University Modern Theatre in Boston, Massachusetts.
- Design-Build: Hensel Phelps’ renovation of Pentagon Wedges 2-5 in Arlington, Virginia.
- Environmental Enhancement: Griffith Company’s work on the Harry Bridges Boulevard Buffer Project in Wilmington, California.
- Federal & Heavy (New Construction): Cajun Industries’ construction of the Chalmette Loop Levee in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana.
- Federal & Heavy (Renovation): Advanced American Construction’s replacement work on the John Day Lock & Dam & Sheave in the Pacific Northwest.
- Highway & Transportation (Design-Build): Granite Construction’s work on the Intercounty Connector Project in Maryland.
- Highway & Transportation (New Construction): Trumbull Corporation’s construction of the North Shore Connector in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
- Highway & Transportation (Renovation): Emery Sapp & Sons’ renovation of Route I-44 in Laclede and Pulaski counties in Missouri.
- Highway & Transportation (Renovation of $10 Million or Less): Hamilton Construction’s renovation of the East Approach on the Isthmus Slough Bridge in Coos Bay, Oregon.
- International: Caddell Construction’s design/build work on the U.S. Consulate in Tijuana, Mexico.
- Municipal & Utilities (New Construction): Schiavone Construction’s development of the Water Tunnels and Associated Works at the Croton Water Treatment Plant in New York.
- Building (New Construction of $10 Million or Less): Hall Construction’s development of the Empty Sky: 9/11 Memorial in Jersey City, New Jersey.
