Autodesk announces plant conversion program for CADWorx customers

by Ann Withanee — October 1, 2010—Autodesk, Inc., a world leader in 3D design, engineering, and entertainment software, has announced the Autodesk Plant Conversion Program for CADWorx Customers. The program is designed to help users of Intergraph CADWorx software transition to the benefits of the Autodesk Plant Design Suite 2011, a new software suite for plant designers who need powerful plant design and whole-project review capabilities in a single integrated package at a low price.

As part of the program, CADWorx users who wish to transition to the Autodesk Plant Design Suite will be provided a 6-step project start-up tool kit upon purchasing a license to the Suite. The kit provides new project templates, migration tools, and reference materials to help simplify the conversion of legacy CADWorx specs and catalogs to the new Autodesk Plant Design Suite 2011.

According to Autodesk, CADWorx users can more easily migrate existing catalogs and specs and get started with the Autodesk Plant Design Suite with minimal difficulty and maximum time-to-productivity. The Autodesk Plant Conversion Program for CADWorx Customers minimizes the barriers to adoption by not only helping users get up to speed quickly, but also giving them a better, more integrated AutoCAD-based solution for plant design and whole-project review.

The AutoCAD components share common data structures and file formats to provide a smoother user experience and more accurate and consistent information exchange. Autodesk Navisworks has long supported the AutoCAD’s DWG file format and now has new features that enable seamless plant design-to-review workflows. The result is a solution that helps streamline the setup, creation, review, and documentation of plant projects.

The Autodesk Plant Conversion Program for CADWorx Customers is available now in North America. For more information, visit the Web site.
