by Brianna Crandall — September 25, 2019 — Axis Communications, a provider of network video products around the world, recently launched a cost-effective, high-performance PTZ network camera for versatile surveillance applications. PTZ or “pan–tilt–zoom” cameras are capable of remote directional and zoom control.
The AXIS P5655-E PTZ Network Camera comes equipped with Axis’ newest chipset, ARTPEC 7, offering improved imaging technology, enhanced security features, extended capabilities for advanced analytics, and more efficient video compressing. Including a choice of four scene profiles (indoor, outdoor, forensic and traffic), exposure time, white balance, aperture, sharpness, contrast and noise are optimized for versatile surveillance applications.
Axis Lightfinder 2.0 technology captures low-light images with more saturated colors and sharper images of moving objects. Forensic wide dynamic range (WDR) technology and light sensors offer additional clarity when there are both light and dark areas in the scene. Additionally, electronic image stabilization (EIS) minimizes the effects of vibration and shaking.
Key features include:
- HDTV 1080p with 32x optical zoom
- Forensic WDR and Lightfinder 2.0
- Signed firmware and secure boot
- Focus recall and EIS
- Zipstream with support for H.264 and H.265
Signed firmware and secure boot guarantee that the firmware hasn’t been altered and ensure only authorized firmware is installed. Furthermore, secure boot guarantees that the camera is completely free of malware after a factory default, if needed. The two-way audio and four I/O (input/output) ports ensure flexible installations, and Axis Zipstream technology, supporting H.264 and H.265, significantly lowers bandwidth and storage requirements.
