by Brianna Crandall — September 24, 2012—Specialty glass provider Bendheim recently announced the launch of a new Architectural Glass Web site. Designed to serve as a specialty glass resource as well as to showcase the company’s specialty products to architects, interior designers, specifiers, and contractors, the Web site features Bendheim’s architectural glass product catalog, well-illustrated technical glass information, and advanced project tools.

Among the pages not solely focused on Bendheim products, “Specification Resources” offers technical information to assist in the specialty glass design and specification process. Topics covered include a Glass Glossary, About Tempered Glass, About Laminated Glass, Glass Edgework, Glass Surfaces, Glass Weight, Glass Maintenance, Manufacturing Tolerances, and LEED Information (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program points available from using Bendheim glass).

In addition, the “Manufacturing Capabilities” page explains the manufacturing processes of Tempering, Heat Strengthening, Color Coating (Back Painting), CNC (computer numerical controlled machine), Water-Jet Cutting, Notching, V-Grooving, Engraving, Hole Drilling and Countersink, Template / Shape Cutting and Polishing, and Edge Treatments that can be used to create Bendheim or other glass products.

As to the Bendheim product-specific pages, the company says that for the first time, a range of more than 200 decorative architectural glasses, carefully selected from Bendheim’s 2,000 in-stock varieties, is available online, complete with photos of products and installations. A project gallery illustrates the design possibilities of decorative glass, including glass walls/floors/ceilings, glass art, shower door glass, cabinet glass, furniture, and glass shelving, for use in corporate settings, private homes, schools and universities, museums and government institutions.

Member architects and designers can create and order customized project-driven sample sets, access standard CSI (Construction Specifications Institute) drop-in specifications and tailor them to the specific project requirements, access relevant LEED and glass maintenance information, and generate customized project print-outs for clients. The “Track Your Order” feature allows contractors and glaziers to check the status of their Bendheim orders online.

Bendheim, the resource for specialty glass since 1927, offers more than 2,000 decorative architectural glass types in stock and unlimited custom design solutions. The third-generation, family-owned company imports, develops, processes, and distributes its products worldwide. The glass is processed in-house, reportedly utilizing state-of-the-art equipment and sound environmental practices. Bendheim’s products span five divisions: Architectural Glass, Channel Glass, Restoration Glass, Art Glass, and Cabinet Glass. Bendheim maintains production facilities in New Jersey and an extensive showroom in Tribeca, New York City.
