Bendheim releases haute couture decorative glass for hospitality, retail markets

by Shane Henson — June 3, 2013—Bendheim, a manufacturer of more than 2,000 varieties of specialty glass, recently revealed a collection of decorative architectural glasses featuring intricately woven metal textiles laminated between ultra-clear low-iron glasses and mirrors.

According to Bendheim, the collection was created through a collaboration with Paris-based eh Oui (translation: “Ah, yes!), the renowned manufacturer of fine metal fabrics, and is geared toward North American luxury retail and hospitality markets.

Five woven designs comprise “eh Oui for Bendheim: Galina in brass, Tempo in stainless steel and rose gold tone, Mosaica in interwoven brass and stainless steel, and Anida in gold tone.

Made using brass, the Galina architectural glass can bring sophistication and elegance to any room.

The finely woven metal wires are rich in texture, reflecting light to produce rhythmic, shimmering effects, says Bendheim. The subtle hand-made appearance is achieved through the deliberate introduction of small irregularities into the weaves. Safety-laminated, ultra-clear glass encapsulates the fabrics, preserving them from the elements while lending brilliance and structure. The glass creates a sense of depth and dimensionality when mirror-backed for wall cladding applications, adds the company.

The sumptuous quality of “eh Oui for Bendheim is well-suited for chic restaurants, hotels, boutiques, and spas, the company says. Applications include cosmetic counters, interior partitions, door and window inserts, stair railings and balustrades, ceiling fixtures, table and countertops, lobby wall cladding, and elevator interiors. The metal interlayers can be custom woven to customer specifications.
