Bentley Prince Street carpet used during Obama inauguration

by AF 0128e5 — January 30, 2009—Bentley Prince Street played a supporting role in the 44th presidential inauguration ceremony and festivities on Jan. 20.

President Barack Obama and Vice President Joseph Biden were sworn into office standing on Bentley Prince Street’s Kings Road carpet. During the ceremony, the red and blue carpet cascaded down the US Capitol’s steps, a symbol of the enduring entrepreneurial spirit of the country.

Bentley Prince Street also provided a “green” climate neutral carpet for the 2009 Green Inaugural Ball held on Jan. 19 to celebrate the inauguration and America’s green economy.

Former Vice President Al Gore served as the event’s Honorary Chair and was joined by more than 75 environmental, conservation, labor and other groups promoting clean and efficient energy and a green economy.

For the 2009 Green Inaugural Ball, Bentley Prince Street’s carpet was made with 10% post-consumer recycled content and 100% renewable electrical energy. The carpet’s climate impact was also completely offset through the purchase of verified emissions reduction credits through Bentley Prince Street’s Cool Carpet program.
