Bentley Prince Street wins environmental certification for its broadloom products

by Rebecca Walker — July 17, 2009—Commercial carpet manufacturer Bentley Prince Street, Inc. announced that it has received a third-party verified Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for its broadloom products. This achievement marks the first time a North American broadloom carpet product has received an EPD, the international gold standard for illustrating the various aspects of a product’s performance says Bentley Prince Street.

An EPD is the only third-party verification system that takes into account the complete life cycle assessment of a product’s environmental impact, encompassing raw materials, production, installation, use and end of use.

Bentley Prince Street based its EPD on its 24-ounce solution dyed products using Antron Lumena type 6,6 nylon and standard High PerformancePC broadloom backing, which contains post-consumer recycled content. Examples of these products include the Tucson Collection designed in collaboration with Clodagh, Distinctive Ikat & Vivid Ombre, Functional Expression, Really Late Night TV & More Monsters Under the Bed and Tall Story.
