by Shane Henson — November 1, 2013—Bentley, a Los Angeles-based commercial carpet producer formerly known as Bentley Prince Street, recently introduced its Western Edge Collection, the first collection to launch under the company’s new brand identity and reaffirmation of its West Coast roots.
The collection includes four ethereal patterns, including Hitchhiker and Savage Journey, which reflect the organic, transient nature of the Mojave Desert’s tenacious flora and sun-worn, earthen hues juxtaposed against adulterated terrain and the florid colors left by inhabitants throughout history. The line’s dynamic patterns and 12 vivid colorways offer a captivating statement for today’s commercial environment, says Bentley.
The entire line features Antron Lumena 895 fine denier, solution-dyed yarns, designed to deliver exceptional color saturation and appearance retention. The carpet is available in 18″ x 36″ and 24″ x 24″ tiles. All carpets within this new collection offer Bentley’s NexStep Cushion Tile backing, complete with an Environmental Protection Declaration.
Attendees of the NeoCon East conference, held at the Baltimore Convention Center in October, were able to view Hitchhiker and other Bentley products. Bentley proved its creative design does not end with carpets, as it was named Booth Design Awards Large Booth at the conference. As part of the booth display, a series of faux steer skulls lined a charred-wood back wall, while 95 brilliant Edison bulbs dotted the ceiling overhead, highlighting the Hitchhiker pattern below in the edgy Scorpion Queen colorway.
The “IIDA Names NeoCon East Booth Design Award Winners” article in Contract magazine on October 18 shows the winning Bentley booth.
Bentley says it is committed to sustainable commerce, and, as the largest commercial carpet manufacturer in California, the company operates in a LEED-EB Gold carpet mill.
