by Rebecca Walker — September 25, 2009—The British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) has thrown its weight behind the 10:10 carbon reduction campaign.
Campaigners are encouraging organizations and individuals to pledge to take whatever action necessary to achieve a 10 per cent reduction in carbon emissions in 2010.
The BIFM is just the latest high-profile backer. The campaign, fronted by documentary filmmaker Franny Armstrong, already has the support of The Guardian newspaper and the Carbon Trust.
The BIFM has committed itself to meet the 10:10 requirements and, if possible, to go beyond them. All organizations signing up to 10:10 are required to look at electricity consumption, fossil fuel use, and travel by road and air. However the BIFM will also examine the potential for carbon savings in other areas.
