by Rebecca Walker — January 11, 2010—The 41-story Marathon Oil Tower in Houston, Texas, has been designated as a BOMA 360 Performance Building for its wide-ranging best practices in areas that include energy, water and waste management as well as green purchasing, life safety and tenant relations.
Transwestern, the property manager for the site, announced that the Class A 1,070,210-square-foot office building had attained the designation. It is the first structure in Houston’s Galleria area to receive the honor.
The best practices program was launched in July by Building Owners and Managers Association International, better known as BOMA International, to provide a market differentiator for commercial structures that meet industry standards for all major areas of building operations and management.
Many criteria are evaluated, including financial management, green purchasing, code compliance, evacuation drills, ADA compliance and much more.
Marathon Oil Tower is owned by a partnership that is controlled and managed by Hanover Real Estate Partners, a privately owned real estate investment firm based in Greenwich, Connecticut.
Other buildings that have attained the best practices designation are listed on the BOMA Interational site.
