by Brianna Crandall — April 4, 2014—BrassCraft Manufacturing, a Michigan-based manufacturer of plumbing products, has introduced its handy Zip-It tool to plumbing contractors as a safe, reliable and cost-effective way to resolve many common clogged drain problems before resorting to more potent chemical methods or drum augers. Facilities professionals, particularly those in multifamily residential facilities, may find the tool convenient and useful as well.

The Zip-It tool is a fast and easy way to clear clogged and slow-running drains, says BrassCraft Mfg. This durable plastic tool is suitable for use in many residential drains including most household sink, shower and tub drains, and is particularly effective on hair clogs. It is 20 inches long, with 18 inches of barbed length. Although considered disposable, the Zip-It tool provides a more environmentally friendly option for users since it eliminates the need to use any harsh chemicals, says the company.

A slow sink drain can be fixed in 10 minutes or less (including clean up) with no tools other than Zip-It, claims BrassCraft Mfg. There usually is no need to remove the stopper. Just open the drain stopper all the way, turn on the water, insert the Zip-It, and then remove it slowly. Use it once, and then throw it away.

BrassCraft Mfg. also provides how-to videos on the Zip-It tool Web page offering expert advice on how to use the Zip-It tool as well as the company’s drum augers and 20 Series power machine for more difficult and deeper drain clogs.
