by Jbs031809d 3 — March 20, 2009 The Building Service Contractors Association International (BSCAI) emerged March 9 from Chapter 11 reorganization as approved by the US Federal Court of northern Illinois. The week before, BSCAI hosted a successful trade show in Chicago, hosting some 900 building service and security contract professionals, service providers, and suppliers. “Coming off a successful event, BSCAI is poised for growth once again,” said BSCSAI Executive Vice President Moe Desmarais.
In 2009, BSCAI will continue to build alliances with industry organizations and suppliers that benefit members. A notable partnership is between BSCAI and ISSA, the worldwide cleaning association. Effective with its 2010 Convention (immediately), BSCAI will co-locate its annual convention with the ISSA/INTERCLEAN event in Orlando, Florida on November 9-12, 2010. BSCAI members will be eligible to attend the ISSA/INTERCLEAN event at member rates.
BSCAI and ISSA will also work together to increase public awareness of the importance of workplace safety and health by jointly supporting North American Occupational Safety & Health (NAOSH) Week, May 3-9, 2009. NAOSH Week is presented by the U.S. Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) and the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Alliance and is aimed at increasing the focus of employers, employees, and the general public on the importance of preventing injuries and illnesses in the workplace.
BSCAI will no longer sponsor an independent trade show. However, sponsorship opportunities and vendor partner programs will reportedly continue as usual. BSCAI says it will continue to host Webinars, its CEO Seminar, Executive Seminar, provide educational materials, and offer certifications for members and nonmembers.
