by Brianna Crandall — February 14, 2011—BSRIA (owned by The Building Services Research and Information Association) has published a new report that pulls together valuable information especially relevant to mechanical and engineering (M&E) contractors. The data is also appropriate for end users who need to set targets, or the supply chain whose work aligns with M&E requirements.
The M&E Contracting Market Report identifies likely workload in various sectors, which is based on an extensive review of several thousand dossiers to determine the percentage share taken by building services in a range of different premises. This has enabled a total overhaul of the M&E forecasts, which are now broken down into far more segments.
Other business opportunities are also explored, such as energy retrofit and the vast, untapped potential in existing buildings. In addition, the report includes a chapter on the latest Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for M&E contractors. It also includes supply chain and subcontractor KPIs for the first time, from BSRIA’s empirical research.
This is the first BSRIA report of this type; it replaces the annual stand-alone KPI Handbook for M&E contractors and replaces the former M&E Contracting Size and Structure Report, providing the latest intelligence to inform M&E business. The detailed, 68-page report is available from the BSRIA Bookshop.
