by Shane Henson — July 6, 2011—The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has announced the release of the new comprehensive LEED Demand Response Pilot Credit. The updated credit establishes new guidelines, which will increase a facility’s LEED ratings with the award of additional points when the facility participates in an Automated Demand Response (AutoDR) program.
DRIQ, the Automated Demand Response product offered by BuildingIQ, an energy management software company, will enable commercial facilities to obtain these additional LEED certification credits. DRIQ automates demand response events to ease the complexity of managing through events and to increase the LEED rating. In addition, DRIQ optimizes the building around the events to reduce the risk of occupant comfort impact. In previous deployments, DRIQ has reduced peak loads by up to 30 percent without impacting occupant comfort.
BuildingIQ says DRIQ is the first and only AutoDR solution that optimizes a commercial facility’s operations around a demand response event while minimizing impact on occupant comfort and ensuring demand reduction commitments can be delivered. DRIQ is a unique software solution which requires no custom engineering and no upfront costs. Current BuildingIQ users can simply add DRIQ to their current subscription to take advantage of demand response programs instantaneously.
