by Shane Henson — December 6, 2013—Office workers often complain about a lack of privacy, especially those working in the trending open spaces designed to encourage collaboration but that in effect make it harder for employees to concentrate when working independently. However, with a new product from BuzziSpace, facilities managers may be able to easily solve this conundrum.
The company’s recently unveiled BuzziFrontDesk adds an acoustic shield to existing tables by attaching to any workstation, thereby minimizing noise distractions. The BuzziFrontDesk also makes it easy to hide computer screens and cable clutter, adding a useful degree of privacy.
“This attachment makes for an easy update to any office space,” said Tom Van Dessel, co-owner of BuzziSpace. “Without the need to completely renovate, BuzziFrontDesk offers a workspace solution that creates a slim barrier while still maintaining an open air environment.”
The innovative yet simple work space product is also sustainably built. The BuzziFrontDesk uses a cardboard and poplar plywood backboard covered in BuzziFelt, a layered eco-felt made from 100 percent upcycled plastic bottle waste. It is a textile designed to both reduce and absorb noise.
According to the company, the BuzziFrontDesk is the latest development in its line of easy-installation acoustic shielding. Similar to the BuzziDesk, a noise-reducing space divider that sits on top of tables, the product’s simple design reportedly allows for incredible versatility; BuzziFrontDesk comes in a variety of sizes and colors.
