by Rebecca Walker — March 11, 2011—The Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) will merge with the Design Council on April 1.
The new body will be the government’s advisor on design in business innovation and the built environment. The organization will provide advice to councils, developers and communities through major development projects.
Six of Cabe’s 20 staff will transfer to the Design Council, which will retain its name and Royal Charter charity status.
It will no longer be a non-departmental public body, and will have a new governance structure.
